Yamout Is Willing to Lay Down his Life for the Gospel

My friend, Pastor Hesham Shehab, invited me to attend a presentation by Mr. Mohammad Yamout, a missionary from Lebanon. I never heard about Mr. Yamout before. I thought this is going to be another talk about all civil wars, fighting in that country, and the difficulties Christian workers face to spread the Gospel. In fact, it turned out to be the other way around. Mr. Yamout was bold and straight forward. He did not mention any difficulties or threats he faced there. He did not even ask for any financial help. (I understoond from Pastor Hesham that Mr. Yamout was jailed a few times, tortured, and driven out of his hometown, for the Gospel work there).

In his testimony, Yamout mentioned how God miraculously helped him financially (getting a job for his wife as a teacher, when they had no money to school their children). In 2008, the Yamouts left everything back home, in Beirut, and went to Tyre, in South Lebanon, in obedience to God’s calling. It was a very touching and faith boosting testimony. The Yamouts walked by faith in a town that was 95% Shiite Muslim.

He said, it was a great joy for him to work for the Lord in that difficult region, and if it was needed, he would be willing to lay down his life for the Lord. He warned that, we, Americans, are getting too much into Islamophobia that paralyses us. He assured that if the present trend continues, we may lose our Christian freedom in America! Yamout added that we need to love Muslims unconditionally for Christ, not fear them. I completely agree with him.

May God bless him and protect him.
